“Tears at Tribhuvan” is a fictional story yet it echoes the very real journey of thousands of Nepalese youths who leave behind everything they love in search of a future they couldn’t find at home.

It’s inspired by the quiet heartbreak of good families, the silent struggle of brilliant students, and the dreams that fade when outdated education fails to meet the needs of a changing world. Even the most well supported children, raised with hope and discipline, often find themselves lost unprepared for white collar jobs, and too proud or unequipped for blue collar work.

In a country where the curriculum hasn’t grown with the times, many are left with only one option: go abroad. And with that choice comes pain long airport goodbyes, aging parents left behind, and love stories interrupted too soon.

This book is a tribute to those moments at Tribhuvan International Airport the tears, the sacrifice, the trembling hope. If this story can raise even a small voice for change, then maybe one day fewer children will have to leave their homeland. Maybe fewer mothers will cry at the departure gate. Maybe more dreams can be lived right here, at home.
